So how did I end up picking the very-trendy-in-2013 Breakfast At Tiffany’s theme?
Definitely not because it’s trendy. But because Naomi’s favorite meal of the day is breakfast, and I really wanted it to be about her favorite things. That’s how it slowly developed into what you see below! This post is more about the actual party and some behind-the-scenes fun, see more professional photoshoot pictures in my portfolio here. A HUGE thank you to Bird of Bird’s Party Magazine for featuring this celebration in her beautiful magazine. Click here to take a look, we even made it to the COVER!
A couple of hours before the party, my wonderful team (consisting of my event coordinator Peggy Lee and photographer Sophia Barrett) and I put together all the pretties for the photo shoot. This was my biggest shoot yet in terms of the number of AMAZING sponsors I had. The local and online party community was really generous and I am forever grateful for the trust they placed on me to make their products shine!
Mini ghost chairs to coordinate with the full size chairs that the girls sat on, with meringue cookies made by Tristen of Sift! and those gold glitter letters are from Hobby Lobby. It turned out lovely, didn’t it?
The little white ‘taxi’ that took the girls to breakfast, inspired by the ever famous opening scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. You know, the one where Audrey hops off a cab looking uber chic in a dress and pearls, and eating her breakfast outside the Tiffany’s store. I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of the movie itself, but Audrey’s sense of style and classiness has made me a forever fan.
She looks pretty happy gazing at her age. Oh Naomi, please stay little. Please. Custom decal from Lauren of Ten23 Designs, ghost chair from Sweet Seats and pearl necklace from Dill & Scout. Her outfit is from Target :)
Quite possibly some of my favorite little details. Gold and tiffany blue were made for each other by the way, don’t these custom napkins from Tere Quade prove it? Gold polka dot plates from Smarty had a Party, one of my favorite online resources. Beautiful glitter sticks from Desserts & Designs. And lastly, madeline cookie pops made with love by Sift! Oh and that lovely white rosette tablecloth with a robin’s egg blue underlay? From the ever fabulous I Do Linens of course. Tamara was such a pleasure to work with and picked out some real beauties for this shoot. Did you see the gold linens on the dessert table? To. die. for.
And that is Peggy Lee, my project coordinator. She keeps me sane. No really. She does everything from hand-cutting custom invitations to steaming linens to picking up random craft items. And never asks me why. No one takes directions better than this dear friend of mine. Thank you Peggy for the countless hours of effort you put in to make Naomi’s day special :)
Did I mention we love to goof off and take crazy pictures while we work? Hey, we’re in the party business… gotta have some fun while planning fun, right? That’s Peggy’s eye photographed by Sophia Barrett. Silly sweet girls :)
Debra of Yummy Delicious Cookies ALWAYS whips up the most perfect little confections to go with my event themes and colors. And those cookies are by far the best I’ve ever tasted.
That’s Danica, Naomi’s BFF from school. Those two are just adorable together. And those amazingly perfect custom balloons that are STILL floating a month after the shoot? From Bonjour Balloon. All I said to Natalie was that I needed a couple of balloons in mint, pink and gold with something tiffany-ish on them. And what do I get? Perfection! Down to the little mint and gold bows on one of the clear balloons! OMG thank you Natalie!
She loved playing with the pretty balloon tassels. And look how they perfectly match with her outfit too? ;)
Gabriella totally cracked us up! The bubbles from her mimosa cracked HER up! She giggled and laughed and then drank some more, it was the cutest thing ever. All that sugar definitely gave her a rush ;)
Janvi and Danica enjoying their ride. Oh the cuteness.
Those über-perfect white fondant bows are from Cakealicious by Reem. Reem worked with me last minute to make sure I got what I really had in mind. I wanted to re-create an inspired version of the iconic Tiffany jewelry box but something that was unique and hadn’t already been designed over and over again. Petit fours from my local bakery sprayed with edible gold worked as the perfect ‘box’.
Me and my little sweetheart. I love her to pieces. I know every Mom says that but I love FEELING that feeling, you know?
Funny story behind these glittered gold centerpieces. I love how glitter looks but I HATE working with it. It drives the OCD side of me crazy! I knew I wanted glitter vases but I didn’t want to make them. Turns out Peggy had JUST glittered three vases for a friend’s party! Well then, bring them over while I pat myself on the back for nothing :)
Ever since I saw the Valentine’s Day shoot styled by the very talented Rhiannon Nicole of Hey Gorgeous Events, I knew I wanted a cake with fresh flowers. I mean, how much simpler and lovelier can a cake get? I love fondant cakes, but sometimes you just want good cake with simple frosting and no extra sugar, you know? Something fresh and pretty and unique. Thank you Rhiannon for the wonderful inspiration!
Sweet girl clinging to Mama’s leg and enjoying her 15647th dessert of the day. It’s okay baby, it’s your day!
Us, after the party. Tired, but happy. And blessed, oh so blessed.
Happy birthday Naomi! Mommy Daddy and Neil hope to celebrate every day with you like it’s your birthday. Just without all the sugar, okay? Deal!
And here is the amazing team that was involved in this shoot. Each of you played an important role… THANK YOU!
